If you are brave enough, a detailed patterned tile can look like a piece of art blanketing your floor. It also gives you the launching pad to dress your room from the ground up. Colour matching furniture, window dressings, and accessories to compliment your tile choice. It becomes the hero instead of the accompaniment. Wow factor doesn’t quite cut it in describing the finished product. It really can be quite spectacular when done well.

A patterned floor tile doesn't need to be colourful and bright. It could be a plain finish laid in an interesting pattern like a herringbone or basket weave. Or maybe monochrome is more your style; keeping the colour relatively neutral, but the eye drawn to the intricate pattern.

But how to pull it off? Our 2 top tips when choosing a patterned floor tile are;

Don’t go overboard. Let the floor do the talking and make sure the complimenting tiles aren’t trying to steal the limelight too.Keep the wall tiles simple and large scale, then go all out with a patterned floor tile.

Size matters. If you’re limited for space, go with a larger pattern. This will give the illusion that there’s more space than there actually is. Or create a focal point with a small, central detail and work your way out to the corners of the room.
